BYD app not working? Owner-tested UK checks

Owner-tested guidance: Tested by a BYD owner, with other BYD owners reporting success. Start with the least disruptive checks. App menus and account arrangements can change, so keep your physical key available and do not repeatedly reset the vehicle.

Check the phone first

  1. Confirm that the phone can load a normal website using mobile data or Wi-Fi.
  2. Fully close the BYD app and open it again.
  3. Check that you signed in with the same email address used for the vehicle account.
  4. Install any available BYD app update from the phone’s official app store.
  5. On Android, you may clear the app cache. Avoid clearing all app data unless you know the correct sign-in details.

Check the vehicle connection

  1. Park safely and confirm that the vehicle display and its connectivity are working.
  2. Restart the centre display once using the vehicle’s normal screen-restart control.
  3. Allow the display and data connection to return fully before refreshing the app.
  4. Check whether the vehicle now appears and whether its status updates.

If the vehicle is new or missing

The vehicle may not yet be associated correctly with the owner account. If it does not appear, or the app reports an account, authorisation or vehicle-binding error, ask the supplying retailer or BYD support to check the account link. Repeated screen restarts are unlikely to repair an account-side problem.

Privacy: Do not publish a VIN, registration, QR code or account screenshot on social media or submit it through an unofficial form.
