Who controls the data?
MyBYD is the controller of personal information submitted directly through this website. Use the privacy contact form for questions or rights requests.
What we collect.
Contact enquiries may include your name, email address, selected topic, message, consent record, submission time and limited technical security information. Anonymous range reports store vehicle and journey context described beside that form; they do not request names, registrations, exact routes or contact details.
Owner update emails.
If you request MyBYD updates, we store your email address, the consent wording you accepted, the page used to sign up, subscription status and timestamps. We use this only for occasional MyBYD owner updates, do not add tracking pixels, and do not sell the address. You can unsubscribe at any time or use the privacy contact form before email self-service is introduced.
My Garage and reminders.
My Garage uses your browser’s local storage. Vehicle nickname, model, mileage, software version and reminders remain on that device and are not submitted to MyBYD by the tool. Clearing browser data or deleting the garage removes them.
Why and how long.
Enquiries are processed to answer your request, operate the service, prevent abuse and keep appropriate records. We intend to retain ordinary enquiries for no longer than 24 months unless a longer period is needed for an unresolved matter or legal obligation. Consent can be withdrawn, although earlier lawful processing remains valid.
Cookies and measurement.
Essential cookies may be used for protected administration and security. If optional audience measurement or advertising technology is introduced, this notice and any required consent control must be updated before it is enabled.
Sharing and international processing.
We do not sell contact details. Necessary hosting or technology providers may process limited data on our behalf. External links, including BYD, retailers, merchants and EVDeal, operate under their own privacy terms.
Your rights.
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Contact us first if you would like us to investigate.
Avoid sending VINs, registrations, financial information, precise locations or sensitive personal details unless genuinely necessary.
