How to clean the BYD SEAL dashboard
For routine dust on the original BYD SEAL dashboard, use a clean, soft cloth dampened with lukewarm water and wipe gently. You do not need a specialist dashboard spray for this first clean. This method comes from the March 2025 right-hand-drive SEAL handbook, rather than a product recommendation.

Clean the dashboard
- Park, switch the car off and let hot trim cool. Use a clean, soft cloth that is free from grit.
- Dampen the cloth with lukewarm water and wring it out so it cannot drip. Apply water to the cloth away from the dashboard.
- Gently wipe a small dusty area, using a clean part of the cloth as it picks up dirt. Continue across the dashboard without scrubbing.
- Let the surface dry and check it in normal light. Routine dust should be removed without a new greasy film, streaks or change in the trim’s finish.
Care note
Keep liquid out of switches, speakers and electrical openings. The handbook warns against organic solvents such as alcohol, and acid or alkaline solutions, because they can stain, discolour or flake the surface. Stop if colour transfers, the finish changes or the trim feels sticky; this dashboard method does not cover touchscreen, instrument display or HUD optics.
If marks remain
For loose dust or a light water mark, try one more gentle pass with a freshly rinsed cloth and let it dry. If a mark remains, or the surface is sticky, shiny, peeling or discoloured, stop adding cleaning products: a stain and a damaged coating need different treatment.
For a persistent mark, note what was spilled or previously applied and take a clear photo after the surface has dried. Ask a BYD service team to identify the trim material and confirm a compatible cleaning method for that surface, and whether the mark is coating damage. Do not keep rubbing to try to restore a worn finish.
