BYD SEALION 7 not waking for a smart-charging slot
If your SEALION 7 charges, pauses and then fails to resume, check the next scheduled slot and the actual energy delivered during it. Start with the charger or tariff app that controls the session; a stale BYD app reading can hide what happened.

- Identify whether the supplier controls the car or the charger.
- Check the request: final battery target, amount to add and ready-by time can mean different things. Safety note: If a plug is damaged, unusually hot, smells burnt or shows smoke or arcing, stop using it and keep clear. Repeated electrical trips need the installer; reconnecting can worsen an electrical fault.
- Check for a competing vehicle timer or a car limit already reached, using the integration’s approved settings.
- During the next planned slot, compare the car’s status with the charger’s status and delivered kWh.
- If permitted by the provider, try a short normal immediate AC charge to see whether the car accepts power.
- Restore the approved smart setup after the comparison.
Does opening the BYD app wake it?
Some owners report that opening the app appears to wake the car. Keep that observation with the exact car/software/charger setup when reporting a failed resume; it is not a dependable overnight charging method.
Car timer and wallbox timer
The cited handbook limits its vehicle-controlled AC timer to compatible BYD equipment. Use the wallbox or tariff provider’s approved control route with other equipment.
If that did not work
For a missed resume, ask the provider to check whether its command arrived and whether the vehicle requested power. If the car repeatedly refuses ordinary AC charging across suitable points, ask BYD to check its charging-system logs.
What to note down for support: The first charge, pause and attempted resume times, actual kWh, battery level, car software and charger/controller details distinguish this from a session that never started.
