BYD launches new model year 2026 SEAL
New 2026 model year SEAL introduces a range of enhancements to make it even more desirable, such as additional technology, increased storage space both front and rear, and new colors
The equipment and technology specification, now enhanced for the new SEAL, raises the bar for the class, featuring a panoramic sunroof, Dynaudio® 12-speaker sound system, 15.6” high-definition touchscreen, and new Driver Monitoring System
From £45,730, the new SEAL is available to order now from local dealerships.
BYD, the global leader in the production of New Energy Vehicles, has revealed its pricing and specifications for the 2026 SEAL, a car that takes the technology, usability, and design of the current car and improves upon it, while retaining the same starting price of £45,730 on the road.
The SEAL was first launched in the UK market in 2023, and the range of upgrades for 2026 are designed to take the already class-leading standard specification and powertrain spec and improve upon it with even greater levels of practicality, safety features, and modern design.
EVOLUTIONARY DESIGN HELPS TO ACHIEVE HIGHER PRACTICALITY
For the year 2026, the BYD SEAL comes with a set of subtle upgrades that will make it even more desirable with its OCEAN design. The car will come with a fresh design of 19-inch wheels that give it a sportier look, and customers will also get to enjoy an enhanced level of personalization with three new exterior colors added to the list. The new colors are Ruby Red, Obsidian Black, and Lavender Grey, which join three existing colors: Polar White, Indigo Grey, and Atlantis Grey. At the back of the vehicle, the BYD logo is now placed prominently at the top center of the full-width LED light bar, with the SEAL model name placed at the bottom right corner of the boot lid.
The interior design of the vehicle has also been enhanced with a sportier look. The seats are still made of soft Nappa leather upholstery, but the headrests now come with a clean design that does not feature the BYD logo, which was previously stitched on the headrests. The center armrest, on the other hand, no longer features the NFC logo, as seen in the previous models, but still retains its functionality.
At the same time, the SEAL is now more flexible than before, making the most of the available luggage space within the current 4.8-meter dimensions. The trunk, which can be accessed through a standard powered tailgate, expands its carrying capacity from 400 to 485 liters, while adding a pair of tethering hooks to keep items in place. Engine compartment storage has also been improved with a new storage compartment that is 19 liters larger than the previous model, at 72 liters – enough to accommodate charging cords or even a carry-on suitcase.

ON-BOARD TECHNOLOGY EVEN MORE COMPREHENSIVE THAN BEFORE
The on-board technology in the new SEAL has been improved, and this increases the already comprehensive standard equipment package of the previous model. The modifications are centered on the standard package of assistance technology. The inclusion of a Driver Monitoring System, which is able to recognize the driver’s attention on the road, meets the latest and most demanding safety regulations. Another new feature in the 2026 model is the Bluetooth key. This allows the driver to enter their vehicle using a smartphone-based keyless entry system.
As in the previous model, the BYD SEAL comes with comprehensive equipment packages. The Design model comes with a standard package that encompasses LED headlights with High Beam Assistant, a panoramic glass roof, a Dynaudio 12-speaker sound system, two 15-watt wireless charging trays, front seats that are electrically adjustable with both heating and ventilation functions, and a fixed 15.6” high-definition screen. The Excellence model upgrades this package even further, with the inclusion of a head-up display.
RAPID PERFORMANCE COMPLEMENTED BY LONG RANGE
In addition to the enhanced standard specification of the Excellence, it also comes with exclusive powertrain and chassis specifications. Its two-motor, all-wheel drive system produces 523bhp and 670Nm of torque, which propels the car from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds, while semi-adaptive suspension technology comes with variable frequency dampers.
The Design comes with a single motor powering the rear wheels. The maximum power output is 308bhp and 360Nm of torque, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds. Both versions are electronically limited to 112mph.
BYD’s world-leading blade battery with a cobalt-free Lithium Iron-Phosphate (LFP) chemistry is another major differentiator of the new SEAL. Its 82.5kWh capacity enables a WLTP range of 354 miles for the Design variant and 323 miles for the Excellence. Rapid charging is also enabled by a 150kW peak speed, which takes just 37 minutes to recharge the battery from 10% to 80%.
COMPETITIVE VALUE AS ENSURED BY BYD’S STRONG WARRANTY PACKAGE
The prices begin at £45,730 for the Design model, while the Excellence is priced at £48,730 – the same as the current SEAL model. Like all BYD models, the SEAL comes with a strong warranty package that includes a six-year, 93,750-mile warranty, as well as an eight-year/155,350-mile battery cover warranty.
