BYD Android Auto keeps disconnecting: wired and wireless checks
A parked, step-by-step route for repeated Android Auto disconnections: choose wired or wireless, check the connection and record what actually fails.

First identify what disappears: the entire Android Auto session, just one app, or only call audio. Those are different reports. The checks below address the phone-to-display connection; they are not a diagnosis of the car or a promise that a cable or setting will fix every dropout.
- Record the starting point: phone model, Android version, vehicle model/year, and whether you are connected by USB or wirelessly. Note whether the whole Android Auto interface disconnects or only sound, maps or one app stops.
- USB connection: try a good-quality data cable shorter than one metre, directly connected without a USB hub or extension. Google recommends trying another suitable cable when a previously working connection fails. This is a test, not a guaranteed diagnosis. Use the vehicle’s handbook-designated data connection.
- Wireless connection: confirm wireless Android Auto support for both the phone and the exact vehicle setup. For initial setup, Google recommends Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Location Services on. Pair using the BYD handbook and on-screen prompts; do not assume another model’s pairing shortcut applies.
- Check that Android Auto is enabled in the infotainment system. If a restart is needed, use the normal infotainment restart specified for your car—not Factory Reset. Follow legitimate on-screen Android Auto update/setup prompts.
- Test one change at a time while parked. Record whether the complete interface disconnects, whether it reconnects, and any exact error. A successful cable test does not establish wireless compatibility or prove an intermittent problem is permanently fixed.
- If it continues, provide that record through an appropriate private support channel. Say which connection mode and cable were tested. Do not post account information, VIN or personal details in a public screenshot. Use the linked official help and your exact vehicle handbook rather than unofficial firmware or reset recipes.
Why does Android Auto keep disconnecting?
There is no single cause established by that symptom. Start with the wired or wireless route above, confirm compatibility and capture what actually disconnects. Keep Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and ordinary Bluetooth call-audio reports separate.
My phone charges over USB. Does that prove the connection is working?
No. Charging alone does not establish an Android Auto data connection. Google notes that a USB port by itself does not mean a car supports Android Auto; use a suitable cable and the correct vehicle connection.
Should I buy a wireless adapter or replace the infotainment unit?
Do not make a purchase on the strength of this symptom alone. First establish the supported connection mode, carry out the simple checks above and retain the results. This guide does not certify third-party adapters or recommend replacing hardware.
Does this mean every BYD here has wireless Android Auto?
No. These are conditional connection checks, not a fitment list. Confirm the exact car, year, equipment and supported connection mode separately.
What if only music stops but the map stays on screen?
Describe that as an audio/app symptom rather than assuming the whole Android Auto session disconnected. Include whether a phone call had just ended. That distinction helps support select the appropriate answer instead of repeating a connection reset.

Review is due. Recheck the primary source and your exact version before relying on changing details.
First useful check
While parked, identify whether the full Android Auto interface drops or only one app/audio source stops; compare one supported connection component at a time.
Read the result
The supported projection interface opens, not just Bluetooth calls or USB charging. If a comparison works, retain the result; it narrows the branch but does not prove a permanent repair.
Stop or change approach: Park before changing settings. Keep existing working keys and accounts; do not factory-reset the vehicle, sideload unofficial packages or bypass phone security prompts.
Prepare a useful record
Exact model/build and vehicle software, phone and OS, supported wired/wireless mode, cable and data port, exact prompt and the result of one change at a time.

Evidence and answer standard
Handbook/provider checks supplement existing owner guidance; outcomes remain conditional. The date records an evidence review, not a physical test of your car. A forum report can identify a question; it cannot establish a universal repair.
