PRACTICAL GUIDE
Choosing a UK home charger for your BYD
Choose a home charger by matching your BYD’s AC capability, your property’s supply and the tariff controls you want to use. Have a qualified installer assess the site before buying; a higher-rated box alone cannot increase the car or supply limit.

- Confirm your exact BYD variant’s AC capability and connector.
- Ask an installer to assess supply capacity, earthing, cable route, parking and load management. Safety note: Electrical installation and protective settings need a qualified installer. Keep the normal cable route clear of trips and vehicle wheels; an unsuitable supply or damaged cable can cause an electrical hazard.
- Choose tethered or socketed equipment and a cable that reaches comfortably.
- Check connectivity and what the charger can do if it goes offline.
- Verify your exact car/charger route with the tariff supplier and any solar or home-battery integration.
- Compare installation support, hardware warranty and app support before ordering.
What to confirm in the quote
Ask for the actual installation capability, the proposed equipment, cable reach and any network work or load-management requirement. Current product prices, warranties and integrations should be confirmed directly; an old comparison table can be out of date.
If that did not work
If an advertised feature is unclear, ask the manufacturer for written confirmation for the exact charger and installation. Use the installer for supply questions and the energy supplier for tariff eligibility.
