A public EV charger may have a tethered cable or require you to use your own. BYD UK says to choose the connector that fits your vehicle and not to force a cable that does not fit. Start the session using the method required by that charging provider, such as its app, RFID card or payment card, then check the charger, app or dashboard confirms that charging has begun. For the connector and vehicle-specific requirements, use the correct handbook for your BYD and model year.

  1. Choose a public charger and check whether it has a tethered cable or needs your own cable.
  2. Select the connector that fits your BYD; do not force it if it does not fit.
  3. Use the provider’s required app, RFID card or payment method to start the session.
  4. Confirm charging has started using the charger, app or your vehicle display, then end the session through the provider’s method when you have enough charge.
