OWNER ANSWER

Should I charge my BYD to 100%?

Yes—BYD UK says you can charge its electric cars to 100% and use DC rapid charging. Plan around the range you need and follow the battery-care instructions in the handbook for your exact car.

MyBYD illustration about charging a BYD to 100 percent
  1. Check the battery-care section in your model-year handbook.
  2. Choose the charge you need for the next journey. Safety note: If a plug is damaged, unusually hot, smells burnt or shows smoke or arcing, stop using it and keep clear. Repeated electrical trips need the installer; reconnecting can worsen an electrical fault.
  3. Allow more time for the final part if charging to full.
  4. If charging stops unexpectedly, check the selected car, charger or tariff target before treating it as a battery problem.

A normal full charge or a fault?

A session reaching its selected target is different from an interruption with a warning. Another brand’s everyday charging rule is not a substitute for your BYD’s battery-care instructions.

If that did not work

If your car repeatedly refuses a requested charge or shows a fault, ask the operator about the termination reason and BYD about the vehicle warning.
