How to install a software update on BYD DOLPHIN SURF
On your DOLPHIN SURF, open Settings → System → Version → Vehicle Version → Version Update and read the update offered by the car. Choose immediate installation or a scheduled time when you can leave it parked for the full displayed duration.

- Park safely and select P with a stable network connection.
- Prepare sufficient battery energy, as required by this handbook, and meet the offered update’s conditions. Charging and discharging are unavailable during installation. Safety note: Installation makes most vehicle functions unavailable: leave the car parked and keep third-party OBD devices disconnected. Unofficial firmware, a forced reset or cutting power can leave the update incomplete; for a failed update with abnormal brake, ABS or power-system warnings, leave the car stationary and contact BYD.
- Read the release description and choose the offered installation time.
- Leave the car parked while the update runs.
- Wait for the completion message, then check the installed version and changed features.
Which edition is this?
Use the cited DOLPHIN SURF RHD handbook and the controls actually shown. Supported app updates are another option where offered.
If that did not work
If the car explicitly reports failure, meet its preparation conditions and use the offered retry. If it fails again, contact BYD Customer Service or a BYD dealer with the error. If it remains active beyond its estimate without a next step, ask BYD before interrupting it.
