Trailer mode indicator*

What it means

The blue car-and-recovery symbol is labelled Trailer mode in the overview. This edition describes EPB Trailer Mode for releasing parking with the electronic parking brake when the vehicle needs to be powered off for towing or has malfunctioned. It does not establish approval or capacity for towing a trailer behind the car; equipment availability is conditional.

What to do

Use the full EPB Trailer Mode procedure in this exact handbook with the recovery provider. Activation requires Park, the brake pedal pressed, no charging connector connected and no charging in progress. On a slope, keep the brake pedal pressed throughout to prevent slipping. Read the touchscreen prompts; pressing P, disabling the mode on the touchscreen or starting charging exits the mode. Before leaving the vehicle, ensure Park and EPB are engaged. Do not treat this status as permission to use any particular recovery method.
