How to check your BYD for a UK safety recall
Use the official government recall routes, understand what a result means, and keep safety recalls separate from ordinary software updates.

Start with GOV.UK's official recall guidance, not a social-media claim about another vehicle. It provides a registration-based check and a separate manufacturer, model and manufacture-year search. This guide explains the checking route; it does not say a particular BYD has a recall or certify your car as safe.
Where do I check using my registration?
Start at https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall and follow its registration-number link. GOV.UK says this route shows outstanding safety-recall information alongside MOT history. Enter details directly into the official service, not in a public comment or a message to MyBYD.
What if I do not know the registration?
The same GOV.UK page links to a search using the manufacturer, model and year of manufacture. A model-level result is not proof that a particular vehicle is affected or that any work on it remains outstanding. Ask BYD to resolve vehicle-specific applicability when the result or notice is unclear.
Is a software update the same as a safety recall?
Do not assume so. An ordinary feature update and a safety recall are different matters. Follow the recall notice's stated remedy; a version number alone is not evidence that a particular recall has been completed. GOV.UK says manufacturers notify owners of recalls for reasons other than safety separately.
What should I do if I receive a safety notice?
Read and follow the manufacturer's instructions for your vehicle and arrange the specified action through an official channel. GOV.UK says a vehicle with a serious safety defect must not be driven. Do not override a stop-driving instruction because a dashboard looks normal or another owner reports no symptoms.
Will I have to pay?
GOV.UK says recall repairs or parts are usually provided without a charge. Confirm what the recall remedy covers with the manufacturer; do not assume unrelated servicing or repairs are included.
Does a clear result guarantee there is no problem?
No. A recall search is not a diagnosis, inspection or safety clearance. If you have a warning or concerning symptom, follow your exact handbook and seek appropriate official help even if no outstanding recall appears. Keep the date of your check and any correspondence for your own records.
