BYD tyre pressure shown on the wrong wheel: safe TPMS checks
Safe step-by-step checks when a BYD dashboard shows tyre pressure or a warning at the wrong wheel, including when TPMS matching may be needed.

Safe step-by-step checks when a BYD dashboard shows tyre pressure or a warning at the wrong wheel, including when TPMS matching may be needed.
- Park somewhere level and safe. If possible, check the tyres when they are cold.
- Inspect all four tyres for a visibly low sidewall, cuts, bulges, an embedded object or valve damage.
- Find the recommended pressures on your own car's driver-door frame label. Do not copy a pressure from another owner or a different BYD model.
- Measure all four tyres with a reliable gauge and note each physical position: front left, front right, rear left and rear right.
- Compare those readings with the four positions shown on the dashboard. Small differences can occur between gauges and as tyres warm up.
- If any physical tyre is low, damaged or losing pressure, deal with that tyre first—even if the dashboard highlights a different corner.
Check all four tyres safely
• Park somewhere level and safe. If possible, check the tyres when they are cold. • Inspect all four tyres for a visibly low sidewall, cuts, bulges, an embedded object or valve damage. • Find the recommended pressures on your own car's driver-door frame label. Do not copy a pressure from another owner or a different BYD model. • Measure all four tyres with a reliable gauge and note each physical position: front left, front right, rear left and rear right. • Compare those readings with the four positions shown on the dashboard. Small differences can occur between gauges and as tyres warm up. • If any physical tyre is low, damaged or losing pressure, deal with that tyre first—even if the dashboard highlights a different corner.
If the readings appear assigned to the wrong wheels
• Check whether the tyres were recently rotated or whether a tyre, wheel, rim, valve or TPMS sensor was repaired or replaced. • Do not repeatedly deflate tyres to try to identify the sensors. • Set pressures only to the cold-tyre values shown on your vehicle's pressure label. • If the measured pressures are sensible but the dashboard positions remain crossed, ask the tyre fitter or a BYD authorised service provider to check the TPMS sensor-position matching. • Tell them which physical wheel matches each displayed reading and when the tyre or wheel work was carried out.
When not to keep driving
Stop in a safe place and seek assistance if a tyre looks low or damaged, loses pressure quickly, has a damaged valve, or the car develops vibration or pulling. A TPMS warning that flashes and then stays on can indicate a system fault; have it checked rather than relying on the displayed wheel position.
What BYD documentation supports
Current right-hand-drive BYD owner manuals for models including the SEAL, DOLPHIN, ATTO 3 and ATTO 2 state that tyre-pressure matching may be required after relevant tyre, wheel or rotation work and direct owners to a BYD dealer or authorised service provider. The exact procedure can vary by model and equipment, so this guide does not recommend an unverified DIY relearn sequence.
