BYD SEALION 7 range display: understand Standard and Dynamic

Understand the SEALION 7 estimate, its handbook menu and a useful journey comparison.

Your BYD SEALION 7 range number is a planning estimate, not a promise of miles remaining or a battery-health test. Use the matching handbook to understand it, then compare completed journeys under similar conditions rather than drawing conclusions from one figure.

Where is the SEALION 7 range menu?

The exact path printed in this edition is the infotainment vehicle-settings icon → Energy → Energy → Range display mode. The repeated Energy label is in the source, not a borrowed menu from another model. See PDF page 97; software may change menus, so compare your car's own handbook while parked.

What do Standard and Dynamic mean?

Standard is the default and uses a combined working-condition test result. Dynamic estimates distance using available battery energy and current average consumption. Neither mode guarantees the distance available on your next journey.

Why can the full-charge estimate change?

The handbook says Dynamic can reflect energy consumed on the previous drive. Air conditioning, driving mode and driving habits also influence the estimate. The selected mode is retained when the car is switched off and on.

Can the display confirm the battery is healthy?

No. The range number alone cannot diagnose battery condition or rule out a fault. Read any accompanying warning and use the matching handbook response. Do not dismiss a warning as ordinary range variation.

MyBYD owner method — not a manufacturer diagnostic procedure: make journey notes only while safely parked, keep units and any available display-mode selection consistent, and never deliberately run the battery low to test an estimate.

  1. Before departure, record battery percentage, displayed range and outside temperature while parked.
  2. At the destination, record miles travelled, ending battery percentage and the consumption figure shown by the car.
  3. Keep context: road type, cabin heating or cooling, weather and load. Compare broadly similar completed journeys, not unrelated conditions.
  4. If an unexplained change persists, charging behaves unexpectedly or a warning appears, ask a BYD authorised service provider to inspect the car. Notes are context, not a diagnosis or permission to ignore warnings.
