BYD SEALION 7 range display: understand Standard and Dynamic

Check whether your SEALION 7 is showing Standard or Dynamic range before comparing the number. Standard uses a combined driving-condition test result; Dynamic estimates distance using available battery energy and current average consumption.

  1. While parked, check the current range-display mode.
  2. Use Infotainment settings → Energy → Energy → Range display mode in the handbook edition covered here, where the setting is fitted. Safety note: Keep enough charge for the journey and only change settings or make notes while parked. Running the battery low to test the estimate is unnecessary; follow any warning’s own instructions.
  3. Keep the same mode and distance units when comparing ordinary journeys.
  4. Compare completed journeys with similar roads, weather, load and cabin heating or cooling.

Why the figure changes

Standard is the default in this edition. Dynamic can reflect energy used on the previous drive, so even a full-charge estimate can change. Air conditioning, driving mode and driving habits also affect it. The selected mode is remembered after switching off and on.

A useful journey comparison

If you are investigating a change, note start/end battery percentage, distance and trip consumption after parking, with outside temperature and route context. These are MyBYD comparison tips, not a battery-health test. A cold motorway journey and a mild urban journey are not a like-for-like comparison.

RHD 07.2024 EN_V0, PDF 97–98 (printed 96–97). The repeated Energy label is printed in the SEALION 7 source.

If that did not work

If the unexplained difference persists on comparable journeys, charging changes unexpectedly or a warning appears, ask a BYD authorised service provider to check it. Give the actual consumption and conditions rather than only the predicted-mile figure.
