- Read the label, expiry date and vehicle manual
- Follow the stated connection and inflation sequence
- Observe the kit’s speed and distance restrictions
- Have the tyre inspected as soon as possible
What should I check when buying replacement tyres for my BYD?
Replacing worn tyres is a different job from temporary puncture-kit use. If a tyre is damaged, punctured or losing air, arrange assessment by a trained tyre specialist. This page cannot decide whether a particular tyre is repairable or safe to drive on.
Before ordering, ask the fitter to confirm your exact BYD model, year, trim and wheel fitment against the vehicle manufacturer’s requirements. Check the size, load index, speed rating and any required approval markings using the matching handbook and professional advice. A matching wheel diameter alone does not establish a suitable replacement.
TyreSafe recommends like-for-like replacement for EV tyres. If considering an alternative, ask the fitter to confirm that it meets your vehicle’s requirements; an EV label alone is not approval for every BYD. This is a buying checklist, not a universal tyre-size table or a recommendation for one brand.
Ask what the fitted quote includes, such as balancing and valve or TPMS servicing. Tell the fitter if sealant has been used. Follow the instructions for your own vehicle and kit while arranging professional inspection; do not treat sealant as a permanent repair.
Temporary mobility—not a tyre repair
A sealant and compressor kit may help with a small puncture in the tread area when the instructions supplied with the vehicle permit it. It cannot make every damaged tyre safe.
Do not use it blindly
Do not continue if the sidewall is damaged, the tyre has left the rim, the wheel is damaged, the puncture is large or the kit instructions exclude the situation. Move away from traffic and use appropriate roadside assistance if the location is unsafe.
Follow the kit in your own vehicle
• Read the label, expiry date and vehicle manual • Follow the stated connection and inflation sequence • Observe the kit’s speed and distance restrictions • Have the tyre inspected as soon as possible
Tell the tyre professional that sealant was used. Replacement sealant, pressure limits and kit design can differ by model and market.
Find the instructions for your vehicle
Open the official BYD UK owner-manual library and select your model. Check that the handbook matches your vehicle and kit before following its tyre-repair procedure. If the correct instructions are unavailable or the damage is outside the kit’s permitted use, contact roadside assistance instead of improvising.
