Public charging payment pending: has your BYD charge been billed twice?
Check whether the bank entry says Pending or Completed before treating it as a duplicate charging bill. A pending amount can be a temporary reservation; match it to the final session receipt to see what you were actually charged.

- Open each bank entry and read its status and merchant name.
- Find the receipt through the app or contactless service used to pay.
- Match its date, location, session reference, energy and total.
- For a failed session, check whether a zero-energy or cancelled record exists.
- Compare the reservation with the provider’s stated release process.
- Ask the billing provider about an unexplained completed charge or an overdue hold.
Pending versus completed
A hypothetical £30 pending reservation alongside one completed £12 session is different from two completed £12 payments. Those figures are examples, not a network’s deposit amounts.
How long should a hold take?
ChargePoint describes release after settlement by the bank. GRIDSERVE’s checked terms describe clearance within a few working days and return of an excess reservation within three working days of completion. Ask the provider and bank about your actual entry if it remains; the final bill can exceed the amount reserved.
Used a roaming account?
Ask the service that billed you about the bill, and the charge-point operator about an immediate equipment fault. A payment reservation alone does not show that electricity reached the car.
If that did not work
For a wrong bill, send the provider the session reference and ask whether settlement or reversal has been issued. Your bank can explain the authorisation status. For an unrecognised transaction or suspected misuse, contact the bank promptly rather than waiting for a charging hold to clear.
What to note down for support: Keep the session reference, amount, merchant and Pending/Completed status. Send only necessary payment identifiers privately through official support.
