Ohme charger offline with your BYD? Home Pro and ePod checks

Check whether Ohme has lost its connection before blaming the car, follow Ohme’s restart guidance safely, and understand why an offline Home Pro may charge immediately.

An Ohme charger showing Offline is a different clue from an online charger waiting for a smart schedule or a BYD refusing a charge. Start by identifying which device has lost contact. Ohme lists mobile-network coverage, firmware updates and an interrupted charger power supply among possible causes. This guide covers that charger-side route; it does not claim that every missed charging slot is caused by the car going to sleep.

  1. Check Ohme’s My Charger page. Its normal online indicator is a green dot. Compare that with the physical unit: Home Pro may show internet-connection messages; ePod’s connecting indicator is the rightmost LED blinking orange, with the left LED-bar section solid green when online. Record exactly what is shown.
  2. If safe and appropriate, follow Ohme’s published powercycle: unplug from the vehicle, turn off the charger’s dedicated breaker switch, leave it off for 15 minutes, then turn it back on. Allow it to reboot and complete any updates before checking status again. This is not an instruction to cycle the whole house supply.
  3. Ohme Go is an exception: Ohme says its portable units are already unplugged after use and directs connection problems to its team rather than this powercycle. Do not apply every Home Pro step to every Ohme product.
  4. When Home Pro is offline, Ohme says plugging in starts an immediate Max Charge. If that is unwanted, its local Stop button pauses charging; Delay Charge sets a delay in 30-minute increments, followed by Done. Check the displayed Delayed until time.
  5. Treat that local delay as a delay, not confirmation of a supplier-controlled cheap-rate slot. Do not assume an offline charge will receive an Intelligent Octopus Go or other smart-tariff rate. Check the current tariff rules and actual billed session with the relevant provider.
  6. If the charger returns online but your BYD still misses the schedule, record the charger status, car’s charge level, intended ready-by time and any vehicle timer. Then use the wider smart-charging guide below. Avoid changing several controllers at once; you need to know which change affected the result.
  7. For frequent disconnections or failure to reconnect, send Ohme the charger model, status messages, times and the result of the official restart. Use the installer for a power-supply concern. Keep serial numbers and account details out of public posts.
Does Offline mean my BYD is asleep?

No. It describes the charger’s connection in this context. It is not proof of the vehicle’s state, a car fault or a known problem affecting all BYD models.

Can I change the schedule from my phone while the charger is offline?

Do not assume a remote change has reached it. Confirm status on the unit and follow the controls supported by that exact Ohme model. Home Pro’s local delay is documented separately above.

Should I reset the car or disconnect its 12V battery?

Not for a charger-side Offline indicator. This guide does not call for vehicle resets, battery disconnection or hidden menus. Investigate the actual connection symptom first.

What if I need a guaranteed charge for tomorrow?

Check the available energy and confirm any permitted charging attempt on the charger and vehicle. If the setup remains unreliable, arrange an alternative charging plan rather than trusting an unconfirmed overnight schedule.
