First decide whether to stop

Stop safely and use roadside or professional help for a red warning, smoke, unusual heat, loss of power, changed braking or steering, a high-voltage or airbag message, or any instruction from the vehicle not to continue.

Record the complete message

1. Park safely before using a phone.
2. Photograph every warning and the surrounding display—not only the symbol.
3. Record the time, battery level, weather, recent charging and anything that changed immediately beforehand.
4. Check the exact symbol and wording in the handbook for this vehicle.

Safe visible checks

Without dismantling anything, check for an obviously low or damaged tyre, obstructed camera area, open closure or charging cable still connected. Do not touch orange cables, pooled liquid or damaged components.

Do not erase useful evidence

A normal shutdown may clear a temporary message, but repeated resets can hide the pattern a technician needs. If the warning returns, changes how the car drives or has no clear handbook explanation, preserve the evidence and arrange diagnosis.
