The wallbox rating is not the whole answer

The charging rate is limited by the lowest-capacity part of the chain: the property supply, wallbox configuration, cable, vehicle onboard charger and any current limit selected in the car. An 11 kW AC figure normally requires a suitable three-phase supply. Most UK homes are single phase.

Check these details

  1. Confirm whether the property supply and wallbox are single phase or three phase.
  2. Check the wallbox app or installer record for its configured current limit.
  3. With the vehicle parked, check the AC current-limit setting in the charging menu.
  4. Compare the vehicle display with the wallbox reading after charging has settled.

Do not confuse AC and DC figures

The much larger rapid-charging number advertised for public DC chargers does not apply to a home AC wallbox. Charging power can also reduce because of temperature, battery state or load management.

When to investigate

Ask the wallbox installer to check the supply and configuration if the result is well below the expected single-phase rate. If the same vehicle remains unusually slow on more than one known-working compatible AC charger, record the settings and ask an authorised BYD repairer to check it.
