DOLPHIN SURF charging cable will not release
For a stuck charging plug on your DOLPHIN SURF, end the session, unlock the car and remove the plug promptly while supporting its body. After DC charging, the handbook specifies two unlock presses within three seconds.

- End the charging session using the charger’s normal stop control.
- Confirm the charger has stopped delivering power. Safety note: A locked plug must not be forced out: this can damage the connector. For unusual heat, damage, smoke, arcing or liquid inside the connection, keep clear and get operator or emergency help rather than attempting a manual release.
- Unlock the car; after DC charging, press unlock twice within three seconds.
- Support the plug body and remove it gently within the unlocking window.
- If it has relocked, unlock again and make one gentle attempt.
Why it locks again
SURF and original SEAL specify a 30-second removal window. SEALION 7 also relocks after a short time. A paused smart session or a full battery is not the same as confirming the charger session has ended.
If normal unlocking fails
Ask the charge-point operator to confirm the session has ended, then contact BYD for the exact SURF release instruction. The cited handbook’s AC emergency-release section contains unrelated seat-heater and driver-assistance text, so it is not a usable step-by-step release procedure.
If that did not work
If the operator cannot end a public session, use its support number with the post ID. If the session is stopped but normal unlocking still fails, ask BYD about the charging lock for your exact car; use the documented emergency release only when its cable is positively identified.
What to note down for support: AC or DC, charger ID, its stopped status, the car message and the result of the timed unlock help support choose the right release.
