How to find software version information on your BYD DOLPHIN
Find the version/update area for your DOLPHIN, what to record and why checking software information is different from installing an update.

Need to tell someone which software your BYD DOLPHIN is running? Start with your car’s own version information, not a release number copied from an article or another owner. The handbook route below identifies the version/update area; it does not guarantee the same installed-version label on every current screen.
- Confirm that the vehicle and handbook are DOLPHIN. DOLPHIN is not DOLPHIN SURF; do not substitute the SURF handbook.
- With the vehicle safely parked, use the documented route: Settings (cog icon) → System → Version. The manual’s OTA sequence then continues to Version update → Upgrade; stop before starting an upgrade.
- If software identifiers are displayed, record the exact screen label and the complete identifier, including letters, punctuation and extra build digits. If several identifiers appear, keep their labels alongside them rather than choosing one and dropping the rest.
- Keep a private photograph or note if you need help comparing the information. Do not post your VIN, registration, account details or personal information in a public screenshot.
- If these menus are absent or different, stop guessing. Check the handbook supplied with your exact vehicle and use the Owner Help Hub to find the right support route. A missing label is not a reason to enter engineering menus or force an update.
Where can I find the software version information?
For BYD DOLPHIN, the 7.2025 EN_V2 handbook documents this version/update area: Settings (cog icon) → System → Version. Its OTA sequence continues to Version update → Upgrade; do not select Upgrade simply to check a number. While safely parked, look for the identifier and its label if shown. Record the whole string. If the screen differs, use the handbook supplied with your car rather than guessing a hidden menu.
Does the number prove that I have the latest update?
No. An installed software/build identifier is not necessarily written in the same format as a public OTA release name. Compare only information for the exact model and relevant vehicle version. An update listed online does not establish that your VIN has been offered it yet; rollouts can arrive in batches. There is no need to force an update simply because another owner has received one.
Should I select Upgrade to read my version?
No. Do not start an installation merely to find a number. Use the information already displayed, if available. If the screen only offers installation and does not show the identifier you need, consult your exact handbook or obtain model-specific help rather than proceeding for this purpose.
Is this the same as the BYD app or navigation map version?
Do not assume so. The phone app, navigation maps and vehicle software can each show separate identifiers. Include the screen name and full displayed label when asking for help, so those different services are not confused.
What should I send when asking for help?
Give the exact model (DOLPHIN), the screen label and full software identifier if shown, the symptom and whether an update is currently offered. Share sensitive vehicle/account details only through an appropriate private support channel, not in a public comment.
