ATTO 3 EVO scheduled charging does not start

If your ATTO 3 EVO misses its charging time, first check whether the car or your charger is meant to start it. With a non-BYD-certified slow AC charger, the handbook says to turn the vehicle timer off and use the charger or tariff provider’s approved arrangement.

BYD ATTO 3 EVO scheduled charging settings and checks
  1. Check the connected device and charging plan in your wallbox or tariff app.
  2. For compatible BYD equipment using the vehicle timer, open Smart Charging app, or Energy → Charge and Discharge. Safety note: If a plug is damaged, unusually hot, smells burnt or shows smoke or arcing, stop using it and keep clear. Repeated electrical trips need the installer; reconnecting can worsen an electrical fault.
  3. Check the car’s clock, selected days and repeat cycle.
  4. Set the start time and any end-time control actually shown, then save.
  5. Reopen the settings to confirm they stayed saved.
  6. Plug in and read the waiting reminder; confirm energy begins flowing at the booked time.
  7. If it still misses the slot, try a short provider-approved immediate charge and restore the normal setup afterwards, allowing for the session’s price.

Charge now or cancel the timer?

Charge now applies to the current session. To cancel future bookings, turn scheduled charging off in its settings. At a very low battery level, the car may charge to a minimum level before waiting for the booked time. This AC timer does not control DC rapid charging.

Scheduled departure is different

Scheduled departure and scheduled charging cannot be active together. A departure target can require charging outside the preferred window; on SEALION 7 it may start immediately or continue beyond concessionary hours to finish. Check the selected mode before relying on a cheap-only window.

If that did not work

If immediate AC charging works but the approved schedule fails, ask the charger or tariff provider whether it sent the start command and whether the car accepted it. If normal AC sessions also fail on suitable equipment, ask BYD to check the stored schedule and charging fault history.

What to note down for support: Support needs the exact controller, car clock, saved days/times, battery level, both status messages and the result of the immediate comparison.
