BYD SEALION 7 not waking for a smart-charging slot

Troubleshoot a SEALION 7 that charges immediately but does not reliably start or resume a delayed smart-tariff session.

First prove ordinary charging works

While parked, remove overlapping schedules and test immediate charging with suitable undamaged equipment. If immediate charging also fails, read the exact warning and use the vehicle manual’s charging troubleshooting rather than treating it as a tariff problem.

Then test one schedule

  1. Choose either the SEALION 7 schedule or the wallbox/energy-supplier schedule for the test.
  2. Check that the AC current limit is not set lower than intended.
  3. Create one short delayed session and note whether the vehicle starts and resumes after any pause.
  4. Record vehicle software, charger make/model, charger firmware and the time of each event.

Why the evidence matters

A charger, tariff service and vehicle must exchange control signals correctly. A failure with one combination does not by itself identify which component caused it. Trying another known-working compatible AC charger can help separate the vehicle from the installation.

Escalate with a timeline

Give the test record to the charger provider and an authorised BYD repairer. Do not install unofficial files or change installer-only electrical settings. Stop charging immediately if equipment is damaged, unusually hot, wet, smells abnormal or the vehicle displays a charging-system fault.
