Respond safely
Brake or steer as the real road situation requires. Do not wait for the SEALION 7 to intervene, and never create a collision scenario to test it.
Record an unavailable-system message
- Park safely and photograph the exact warning.
- Note the trim, software version, weather, visibility and whether any recent glass, bumper, wheel-alignment or body repair was completed.
- Check the manual-identified sensing areas for ordinary dirt, ice or obstruction without touching or repositioning equipment.
- Arrange an authorised check if the message remains, repeatedly returns or follows an impact.
Trim and software differences
Comfort, Design AWD and Excellence AWD must not be assumed to have identical hardware or settings. Follow the message and manual for the exact vehicle rather than another owner’s menu screenshots.
After an AEB or collision-warning event
- Concentrate on the road and stop only where safe.
- Photograph the exact message after parking.
- Record speed, weather, road markings, traffic and whether braking or steering intervention occurred.
- Inspect only the manual-identified external sensing surfaces for obvious obstruction or damage.
- Do not recreate the event; arrange diagnosis if the warning persists or behaviour was unsafe.
How to interpret the outcome
- Unavailable only in severe weather: sensor visibility may have been limited; continue driving manually for conditions.
- Clears after safe cleaning: monitor it and retain the original evidence.
- Returns in clear conditions: software, alignment or hardware needs assessment.
- Appears after glass, bumper, suspension or collision repair: ask whether the exact model calibration procedure was completed.
Never use a person, vehicle, box or roadside object to test automatic braking.
