Build a clean test
- Park the SEAL, power it on and confirm the phone is unlocked with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi available where the chosen connection requires them.
- Restart the phone and centre display normally.
- For USB testing, use a known data-capable cable and the vehicle data port, not a charge-only socket.
- Remove the SEAL from the phone’s CarPlay or Android Auto list and remove the phone from the vehicle device list.
- Pair again, accepting projection, contacts, notifications and microphone prompts needed for the feature.
- Test navigation audio, music and one safe stationary call, then confirm sound returns to the expected source.
- If a second compatible phone works, review the first phone’s operating system, restrictions, VPN and app permissions.
What the result means
- Charging but no projection: suspect a charge-only cable, wrong port or permission.
- Calls work but media is silent: select the intended vehicle audio source and check phone media volume.
- It fails only after an update: save the complete SEAL and phone software versions before resetting pairings again.
Do not factory-reset the vehicle as a first step. A repeatable failure with two compatible phones and known-good cables should be documented for BYD support.
