At home
- Use a wallbox installed and commissioned for the property supply.
- Connect the Type 2 cable fully and confirm the intended charge limit.
- If using a cheap-rate window, nominate one controller while testing.
Why a session may pause
Smart tariffs, solar diversion, load balancing, a vehicle schedule or the wallbox can each pause delivery normally. Compare timestamps in both apps before treating a pause as a fault.
Safe cable release
Stop the session, wait for confirmation and unlock the SEAL before removing the connector. Use only the exact handbook emergency procedure if normal release fails.
Step-by-step charging diagnosis
- Photograph the vehicle and charge-point messages before changing any setting.
- Disable every timer, then start one immediate AC session.
- If it starts, stop normally and create one vehicle schedule at least ten minutes ahead.
- If it does not start, test a different known-working compatible post or cable where practical.
- Re-enable only one wallbox, tariff or solar control at a time.
What each result means
- Immediate charging works: the cable and basic AC path are working; investigate timers, authorisation or load control.
- Another post works: the original charge point, installation or operator is the likely focus.
- Every suitable post fails: save the vehicle warning and arrange BYD diagnosis.
- The rate changes during the session: compare battery level, temperature and home load before treating it as a fault.
Safety limit
Never use an extension lead or domestic adaptor unless the exact vehicle handbook and approved equipment explicitly permit it. Stop for heat, burning smell, arcing, damaged pins, water ingress or repeated protective tripping.
