Move the front wipers correctly
- Park, select P and turn off rain-sensing or automatic wiping.
- Clear snow and ice without operating a stuck blade.
- Find wiper maintenance in the current EVO vehicle settings or handbook and activate it.
- Lift an arm only after it has stopped in the maintenance position.
Avoid expensive contact
Keep the bonnet closed while an arm is raised and place no tools on the windscreen. Hold the arm securely, lower it slowly and never let an unprotected arm snap back onto the glass.
Return to normal
Refit the correct blade securely, lower both arms and disable maintenance mode as instructed for the current software. Test from inside the stationary vehicle. If an arm hits trim, parks incorrectly or remains loose, stop using it and arrange inspection.
Step-by-step preparation
- Park, switch the vehicle off and keep the key away from accidental controls.
- Confirm the exact manual procedure for placing the wipers in service position.
- Activate that procedure before lifting an arm; never drag a parked blade across the bonnet edge.
- Lift one arm carefully, support it and replace or clean one blade at a time.
- Lower the arm gently onto the glass, then return the system to normal position.
Check the result
- Smearing remains: clean the glass and blade edge and inspect for wear.
- Judder occurs: confirm the correct blade fit and that the arm is not twisted.
- The arm touches bodywork: stop—the service position or blade specification is wrong.
- The mechanism is noisy or fails to park: arrange inspection rather than forcing it.
Do not let a sprung arm strike the windscreen and do not operate the wipers while an arm is raised.
