ATTO 3 EVO air conditioning not cooling properly

Checks for weak or warm airflow in an ATTO 3 EVO and when the climate system needs professional inspection.

Step 1: rule out a control setting

  1. Set the temperature several degrees below the cabin temperature.
  2. Confirm A/C is on and increase the fan to a clearly audible speed.
  3. Select face-level vents, open the physical vents and turn off windscreen demist.
  4. Switch recirculation on briefly in hot weather and close doors and windows.
  5. Compare airflow and temperature at the left, centre and right vents.

Step 2: check operating conditions

  1. Remove leaves or debris from the exterior air intake without dismantling anything.
  2. Check whether a door opening, low traction-battery level or vehicle message cancelled remote climate.
  3. Allow several minutes for a heat-soaked cabin to cool, noting the outside temperature.
  4. End climate normally, leave the vehicle to shut down, then test one more time.

What the result means

  • Strong airflow that becomes cool: the system is operating; extreme cabin heat may explain the delay.
  • Weak airflow from every vent: an intake, filter, fan or distribution issue may need inspection.
  • Only one side stays warm: record the exact vents and settings because an air-mixing fault may be involved.
  • Remote climate fails but in-car climate works: check the app connection and remote-climate conditions rather than the refrigerant system first.

Stop and arrange inspection

Do not open refrigerant or high-voltage components. No airflow, repeated warnings, abnormal grinding, visible liquid leakage or air that never cools after the checks needs an authorised BYD inspection. Provide the outside temperature, settings, vehicle software version and a short video of the controls and airflow.
